Hi everyone, this is another episode of pregnancy health tips on things to avoid during pregnancy.
Below are some of the many things every woman is to avoid during pregnancy;
Smoking increases the risk of miscarriage, low birth weight. Smoking during pregnancy cause tissue damage in the unborn baby, particularly in the brain. It raises the risk of your baby being born with defects.
Taking Unprescribed Drugs and concoctions
Illegal drug intake during pregnancy may cause miscarriage, birth defects, higher risk of sudden infant death and poor fetal growth rate.
Taking alcohol can cause miscarriage, brain damage, premature birth, and low birth weight. The act can cause the baby to develop a serious condition called foetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).
Engaging in strenuous work
A strenuous activity is one which uses a lot of effort, energy, or strength. A typical example is hiking to the top of Afadja Mountains which requires great exertion. During pregnancy, one must avoid strenuous work.
Lifting of heavy loads
Prolonged standing and heavy lifting of loads increases the chance of miscarriage or preterm delivery (premature birth). Women who are at risk for premature labour may need to stop lifting objects after the first trimester.
