Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)) from an accredited institution of higher learning in any of the following fields: Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biomedical Science, Herbal Medicine, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Agricultural Science, Horticultural Science, Forestry, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Chemical Engineering, Renewable Natural Resources, and other related disciplines. MPhil candidates will be required to pass a selection interview.
iii. MPhil. Biochemistry
Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)) from an accredited institution of higher learning in any of the following fields: Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biomedical Science, Food Science, Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Agricultural Science, and other related disciplines. Candidates will be required to pass a selection interview.
iv. MSc. Biodata Analytics and Computational Genomics

Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)) from an accredited institution of higher learning in any of the following fields: Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, and other related disciplines. MPhil candidates will be required to pass a selection interview.
vi. MPhil. Human Nutrition and Dietetics
Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)) from an accredited institution of higher learning in any of the following fields: Biochemistry, Food Science, Animal Science, Nutrition, Nursing, Biological Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dietetics. Candidates will be required to pass a selection interview.

Candidates must have an MSc or MPhil degree from a recognised university in any of the following fields: Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biomedical Science, Pharmacy, Herbal Medicine, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Agricultural Science, Horticultural Science, Forestry, Animal Science, and other related disciplines. Candidates will be required to submit a research proposal and pass a selection interview.
ix. PhD. Human Nutrition and Dietetics
Candidates must have an MSc or MPhil degree from a recognised university in any of the following fields: Biochemistry, Nursing, Biological Sciences, Food Science, Nutrition, Medicine, Dietetics, and other related disciplines. Candidates will be required to submit a research proposal and pass a selection interview.
x. PhD. Biodata Analytics and Computational Genomics
Candidates must have an MSc or MPhil degree from a recognised university in any of the following fields: Biodata Analytics and Computational Genomics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, and other related disciplines. Candidates will be required to submit a research proposal and pass a selection interview.
Department of Food Science and Technology
i. MSc. Food Quality Management
Candidates must have a BSc degree (minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)) in Food Science and Technology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Nutrition Science, Biology, Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or and related science or technology disciplines from a recognised university. A higher-level professional qualification or an advanced degree and relevant work experience in food related establishment may be considered where the candidate has not reached the requirement above. Such candidate shall be assessed through a selection interview.
ii. MSc. Food Science and Technology
Candidates must have a BSc degree (minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)) in Food Science, Nutrition, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Natural Resources Management, and other science-based degree from a recognised university. A higher-level professional qualification or an advanced degree and relevant work experience in food related establishment may be considered where the candidate has not reached the requirement above. Such candidate shall be assessed through a selection interview or an entry examination.
iii. MPhil. Food Science and Technology
Candidates must have a BSc degree (minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)) in Food Science and Technology, Food Science and Nutrition, Food Technology, or Food Science. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in any closely related field may apply, such candidates shall be required to satisfy prerequisite courses.
iv. PhD Food Science and Technology
Candidates must have a master’s degree in Food Science and Technology. Other candidates must have completed course work in any three (3) out of the under-listed areas at the Masters’ levels.
- Food Chemistry or related courses
- Food Microbiology or related courses
- Food Processing/Technology/Engineering or related courses
- Food Product Development/Sensory Science or related courses
Candidates with the under-listed degrees are eligible to apply provided they are willing to satisfy the prerequisite courses while on the PhD programme. - MSc/MPhil Food Quality Management or its equivalent
- MSc/MPhil Chemistry or its equivalent
- MSc/MPhil Food Microbiology or its equivalent
- MSc/MPhil Biochemistry or its equivalent
- MSc/MPhil Agricultural Science or its equivalent
Admission shall be based on application with relevant qualification, research proposal, performance at a selection interview and acceptance of prerequisite courses where recommendations have been made.
Department of Environmental Science
i. MPhil. Environmental Science
Candidates must have Bachelor of Science degree or its equivalent in Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering, Natural Resources, or other related fields from a recognised university. Candidates who already a one-year MSc. degree in Environmental Science and related disciplines (by taught course) may be admitted into the second year (research phase) of the MPhil. Environmental Science programme. and Applied Sciences. Candidates may be required to pass a selection interview.
ii. PhD. Environmental Science
Candidates must have an MPhil degree or its equivalent from a recognised institution, in Environmental Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Biological Sciences, Natural Resources or other related disciplines from a recognised university. Candidates may be required to pass a selection interview.

i. MPhil Vision Science
Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)) from a recognised University in Vision Science, Optometry, Ophthalmology, Biology, Human Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, or Physics. Candidates shall be required to pass a selection interview.
ii. PhD Vision Science
Candidates must have an MSc or MPhil degree in Optometry, Vision Science, Neuroscience, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Psychology, Molecular Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Human Biology, Medicine, Chemistry, Ophthalmology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Candidates shall be required to pass a selection interview.
